Message I was just layed off from my job by my own choosing. They decided to close their doors to anything IT related and go back to copiers. They wanted me along for the ride...but it turns out some old bosses of mine have a company they are at with a strong foundation and 11 years in the biz. They want me at the same pay, better benefits, etc. Now is NOT the time to be looking for a job, so I took it. I also had to then ASK to be laid off so I could get my severance package...which ends up being around $14K (7 years of long service baby).

Now. I don't want to spend a DIME of saved money on this car. I want a house and a nest egg in this economy. No dumb decisions. I'd be FINE driving my little NA for a while if I didn't just find out that my transmission is shot as WELL as the fact that I was going to be pulling the motor for the headgasket next month. My entire drivetrain is shit. I'm looking at $6K once ALL is said and done to get it back to where I want it. A TT swap is REDICULOUS and out of the question (it'd be $10-$15K with a TT tranny needed if Greg could do it and he can't). That being said, I FOR ONCE have the time and the extra money to actually buy a second Z and STILL keep my old one.

Why is that pertinent? Because I have a garage now too and I can finally buy a lesser TT (meaning not that uber-95TT all out racecar thing I wanted 2 years ago) and swap ALL the parts I can. Then I'd part out the rest of the car over time and in the end I'd have a great 90-92 TT daily driver for the next few years until I decide what I want to do. All without having to spend a single dime of saved money and with the parted out stuff I'd make some back. The big question...CAN I FIND ONE :) I'm not nearly as picky since I have a lot to replace on it anyway (so if the seats are bad, big deal). I just want the body to be clean and that it runs.

That's most of it in a nutshell.
